Ingredients

  • 1 can (12 oz.) Whipped Vanilla Frosting
  • blue food coloring
  • ½ cup white coarse sugar crystals
  • 6 green sour straws
  • 2 packages green fruit leather
  • 3 packages red fruit leather
  • ½ cup white mini candy coated chocolates
  • 12 Duncan Hines chocolate cupcakes baked in silver foil liners

Baking Instructions

  1. Tint the vanilla frosting light blue with the food coloring. Place the sugar crystals in a small bowl. Spread the tops of the cupcakes with the blue frosting, mounding slightly in the center. Roll edge of cupcake in sugar to cover.
  2. Cut the green sour straws into 3 inch pieces. Cut some of the pieces in half lengthwise, and cut some of the half pieces in half crosswise. Cut the green fruit leather into ½"x¾" ovals. Pinch one thinner end to make leaf shape.
  3. Arrange several pieces of the sour straws on top of the cupcakes as branches. Add about 11 leaves all over the top. Add about 12 chocolate in clusters near the leaves.
  4. For the ribbon, cut the red fruit leather in half lengthwise. Cut each strip into twelve 8" lengths. Tie fruit leather into a bow. Snip notches into the ends of the bow and place on top of the cupcake. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.

Cheesecake Cracks

Cheesecake Cracks

I have heard that opening the oven during the first 20 minutes of baking a cheesccake is what causes the cracks. I never open the oven so I don't get cracks's so it must work! Also, like another tips says, overbeating will also cause cracks since the "too much air" has no where to go.

Use an oven thermometer - The temperatures can vary 10 degrees between the two ovens I use and that makes a tremendous difference in cook time and finished product.
