Be Commander-in-Chief of your kitchen with a chocolate cupcake silhouette of your favorite President. | Buy on Amazon

  • Hands-On Time:1 Hour
  • Total Time: 1 Hour 15 Minutes
  • Servings: 12 Cupcakes
  • Rating:

  • 1 cup dark cocoa candy melts
  • 1 can (16 oz.) Creamy Home-Style Classic Vanilla Frosting
  • ¾ cup white coarse decorating sugar
  • 1 cup brown candy covered chocolates
  • 12 Duncan Hines chocolate cupcakes baked in brown paper liners

Baking Instructions

  1. Place the templates for the President silhouettes on a sheet pan. Cut wax paper into twelve 4" squares. Place a piece of wax paper over each template.
  2. Place the dark cocoa candy melts in a freezer bag. Do not seal the bag. Microwave for about 10 seconds to soften. Massage the mixture and return to the microwave. Repeat the process until the candy is smooth, about 1 minute. Press out the excess air and seal the bag. Snip a scant ⅛" corner from the bag.
  3. Pipe an outline of the silhouette with the melted candy. Fill in with extra candy and use a toothpick to pull the candy into the smaller areas. Tap the pan lightly to smooth the top. Transfer the cookie sheet to the refrigerator for 5 minutes or until firm. Repeat with the remaining candy and templates to make 12.
  4. Place the white decorating sugar into a shallow bowl. Spread the tops of the cupcake with the vanilla frosting. Roll the edges of the cupcakes in the sugar to cover.
  5. Place the brown candies very close to the edge around each cupcake, about ½ inch apart.
  6. Carefully peel the chocolate silhouettes from the wax paper. (It is best to use the offset spatula to transfer chocolate to the cupcake.) Place the chocolate on the center of each cupcake. Press very lightly in the center to secure. Use a toothpick to rearrange template if necessary. Repeat with the remaining cupcakes.
