Originally from Down South, and once the signature dessert at the Waldorf-Asotria in the 1920s, the Red Velvet Cake has become an American favorite. It's hip, fun, and easy to make. Red Velvet -- in cake or cupcake form -- is a hit at every party.

Baking Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Place 18 paper liners in muffin pan(s).
  2. Prepare cake mix using water, oil and eggs in large bowl.
  3. Beat with an electric mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes. Spoon batter evenly into prepared pan(s)
  4. Bake 18 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  5. Cool cupcakes completely on wire rack.
  6. Spread frosting on cupcakes and garnish with nonpareils and hearts.
