Honey Bun Cake

A sweet, moist, sticky cake that is much like a Honey Bun sweet roll. Almost a shame to save it for dessert.....

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Duncan Hines Classic Yellow cake mix
  • 2/3 cup cooking oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 6 tbsp. milk

Baking Instructions

  1. Mix the first 7 ingredients together in a large mixing bowl with electric mixer on medium until well blended and batter is smooth.
  2. Grease 9x13-inch pan with nonstick cooking spray or shortening.
  3. Pour cake batter into pan.
  4. Bake at 325 degrees for 40-45 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  5. Meanwhile, mix the last 3 ingredients together in a medium mixing bowl.
  6. When cake is done, remove from oven and pour the mixture on top of hot cake.
  7. Serve warm.

when banking a cake put floured cake pan in freezer, while mixing cake and finished product will remove without bottom of cake stuck to pan


Cakes not rising?

Cakes not rising?

I am trouble recently with cakes not rising. I only use Duncan Hines mixes and always with good results. Not sure what has changed (mix reformulated perhaps?). The mixes I've used these past few months (Yellow, Chocolate Fudge, Vanilla & Pineapple) all bake with a reduced rise. Also, the texture seems a bit off. If it 'aint broke .....
