Chocolate Cherry Torte Squares

Sweet cherry filling nestled in layers of moist Duncan Hines Devil's Food Cake and dollops of whipped cream to top it off––this Chocolate Cherry Torte will be the crowning glory to your dinner.

Baking Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  2. Combine cake mix, water, oil and eggs in large bowl.
  3. Beat with an electric mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour into prepared pan.
  4. Bake 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely on wire rack.
  5. Blend cherry pie filling and almond extract in small bowl until combined.
  6. Cut cake into 24 squares. Top each with whipped topping and 1 tablespoon cherry mixture. Sprinkle with almonds.

Make sheep or lamb cupcakes

Tend to your flock with this decorating tip. 1. Top cupcake with a coat of white frosting as a base. 2. Pipe a large dot for the head with a #2A Frosting tip. 3. Pipe on small dots using a #8 Frosting tip all around the cupcake. 4. Pipe on ears on either side of the head using frosting tip #352. 5. Dye some of your frosting pink. 6. Using frosting tip #2 draw the nose, eyes and a line down the ears. 7. Using chocolate frosting, dot on the eyes. TIP: You can also use chocolate sprinkles for the eyes.

Professionals place their cakes on a cake board (a precut cardboard circle) that is the same size at the cake it is holding. This allows the professional to place the cake on all types of service platters. Some platters may be delicate and not appropriate to cut on. If that is the case, the cake board will protect the platter from the sharp knife.
