How does the crust turn out? According to the recipe the cake mix is mixed in dry with the other ingredients.

This recipe also works well with apple pie filling. Very quick and easy. Pop open a can of filling, pour it into a bowl, cut the apples into smaller pieces, add 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and two teaspoons of apple pie spice, pour over crust, add topping and bake. Perfect every time!

I used peeled Granny Smith Apples..... they cooked up better than Gala or Goldens. The recipe does not say what kind to use.

Where can I purchase the individual dessert skillets pictured so I can serve this as pictured?

If you have a Cracker Barrel restaurant and General Store in your area, you can find them there. They also have an online site.

Did either of you actually "read" the recipe? It calls for apples "peeled or unpeeled" and the TIP says you can transfer it to a skillet for serving. Sounds like what the picture looks like to me...

I too, like the above reader noticed the same thing about the picture of the recipe - how misleading! I'm confused as to why Duncan Hines didn't include a picture of the finished product. Nevertheless, after reading the recipe it does sound very tasty and I do think I'll try it - I guess we'll soon find out how good it is!

This photo is so missleading the apples are not peeled and it shows the cobbler in a skillet don't you hate when that happens. I'm gonna try it anyway lol

The picture looks like it is a single serving with the fork lying next to it...I think it looks good.

you bake it in a 13x9x2 pan at first. then you serve it in the little skillet . you don't bake in the skillets. the skillet is acting your plate or bowl.
