Ingredients Baking Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour oven-safe mugs.
  2. Prepare cake batter as directed on package.
  3. Fill mugs two-thirds full with batter. Set mugs on a sheet pan and bake 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean.
  4. Let mugs cool completely.
  5. Pour packet of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Chocolate Marshmallow Flavor Mix into can of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter. Stir until evenly blended.
  6. Transfer the Chocolate Marshmallow frosting you just created to a piping bag with an open star decorator tip.
  7. Pipe the frosting in a swirling motion. Garnish with mini-marshamallows and serve with a spoon.
  8. Tip:

  9. If you’d like a molten center, use Duncan Hines® Triple Chocolate Decadent Cake Mix. Layer the Decadent pouch filling in between a bottom and a top layer of cake batter and bake.

After searching high and low for oven proof mugs, I made these. Filling 2/3 was way too much, as before long, I had what seemed like chocolate volcanos erupting in the oven- it smelled wonderful though. Had to add extra time to finally have them cooked, then had to 'trim' the tops and clean each cup. Next time, I will only fill 1/2.

I have not made these yet. I grease and flour small or odd size baking items by mixing flour and shortening together and then use a pastry brush to coat.

This is perfect for me. Especially since most of my family likes white cake. I am the choco-holic. :)

These are so fun! Perfect for a cold wintery day and simple to decorate. I think a graham cracker crust on the bottom would taste really good.

can you use any mug's, and do they have to be micro or oven proof or will any mug do?

Yes, they have to be micro (no metal) or oven proof. If your mug is ceramic and has been previously fired through a 1000 degree kiln oven, then chances are it will withstand 350 degrees. Don't shove your tupperware in there, just sayin'.

thinking about the mugs... I am going to guess wildly that the size wil depend on how many you want to make? this sounds great!

The recipe can't specify size or amount of mugs because there is a big range in size. Just be sure fill your mugs 2/3 full and no higher. How many you get will depend on your mug size.
