Enjoy the classic taste of Apple Fritters, made with Duncan Hines Comstock® or Wilderness® More Fruit Apple Filling.
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 Tbsp. lemon zest
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 can (21 ounces) Comstock® or Wilderness® More Fruit Apple Filling
- Vegetable oil
- 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
- 1-2 Tbsp. milk
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- Stir flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and lemon zest together in a large bowl.
- In a small bowl, mix egg and milk together; add to flour mixture with the apple fruit filling and stir well to combine.
- Pour 1-1/2-inches vegetable oil into a shallow pot. Heat oil over MEDIUM-HIGH heat until it registers 350°F on thermometer.
- Working in batches of 6, drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides. Remove from oil and let drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining batter.
- In a small bowl, whisk lemon juice, milk and confectioners’ sugar until well combined. Drizzle glaze over fritters. Makes approximately 30-40 fritters.
