Recipe Description
It's a Bubble Gum Machine! It's a Tie Dyed cupcake!!! It's Both!! What an amazing combination! The delicious taste of Duncan Hines Bubble Gum Frosting with Duncan Hines French Vanilla cupcakes are a winning combination at any party! Easy and fun to make with the kids! Thanks, Duncan Hines, for putting the fun back into cupcakes!!!
Ingredients Baking Instructions
  • 1 pkg. Duncan Hines Signature French Vanilla Cake Mix
  • 3 large egg
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cans Duncan Hines Frosting Creations Frosting Starter
  • 2 packets Duncan Hines Frosting Creations Bubble Gum Flavor Mix
  • 3 bright colors of food coloring
  • 2 cups round chocolate coated candy
  1. 1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Place cupcake liners in muffin pans.
  2. Prepare cake batter as directed on package.
  3. 2. Divide the batter into three separate small bowls.
  4. 3. Color the batter in each bowl with a few drops of food coloring . Mix to desired color
  5. 4. Drop tablespoons of each colored batter into the cupcake liners until they are 3/4 full.
  6. 5. When all the liners are filled, use a toothpick to swirl the batter a few times. Use a clean toothpick for each cupcake so that you keep the colors clean.
  7. 6.Bake according to instructions on box and make sure a toothpick comes out clean when inserted.
  8. 7. Pour 1 packet of Duncan Hines Frosting Creations Bubble Gum Flavor Mix into 1 can of Duncan Hines Frosting Creations Frosting Starter. Stir until evenly blended. You may need two cans of frosting. When you run out, repeat this step.
  9. 8. Frost half the cupcakes. Decorate with chocolate covered candy to resemble gumballs in a gumball machine.
  10. 9.Cut the tops off the other half of cupcakes so they can lay flat upside down.
  11. 10. Remove the liners from the cupcakes. Using the frosting as “glue”, put frosting on the top of the inverted cupcake, and lay the decorated cupcake on top of it, horizontal, at an angle.
