The recipe says "12 servings". It doesn't mention size of the cupcakes. I have them in the oven now --there was more than enough batter / filling for 24 regular size cupcakes. Another person mentioned jumbo cupcakes --that might be the best way to go with this recipe.

t´s so funny.....in germany does no "german chocolate cake" exist! we don´t have this kind of traditional cake. We are big into traditional cheesecakes and apple or fruit pies.
Don´t know where this comes from! But it´s delicious! ;)

You're correct! The cake is actually American, and was invented by a man named Sam German. Originally the recipe was called, German's Chocolate Cake, but over the years it was changed to German Chocolate Cake. The company that was manufacturing German's chocolate chips made the change, others copied and now people believe it is a German recipe, when it isn't. One of the first recipes for GC cake came from a woman in Dallas, Texas, people liked it so much it grew in popularity very quickly and was soon published. Now, Black forest cake...that is German.

How do you get the creamy filling to stay in the middle of the cupcake? I made the red velvet ones and the cream fell to the bottom ; /

I poured a little of the cake batter in the cupcake tin, followed that with the cream cheese and then added the remainder of the cake batter
