I made these cotton candy cupcakes with a white cake mix and in the cake mix added cotton candy in the mix. Before I baked the cupcakes I also added cotton candy on top of the cupcakes to bake and it added color and helped with the cotton candy taste. I also did the cotton candy frosting and garnished with cotton candy before serving and pink sprinkles to add color.

I made this cupcakes a couple of hours ago but instead of using the yellow cake mix I used confetti cke mix and they were good I expected the cotton candy flavour better but it was okay and instead of using the frosting started i used my own frosting so i could get the consistency that i wanted i think that you should give them a try

it clearly says "Tip:
Heat and moisture will affect the cotton candy; therefore, add your cotton candy garnish right before serving."

This is a great idea if you put the cotton candy tufts on immediately before you serve AND all are eaten right away. Any extra humidity around them and the cotton candy turns into a large indentifiable lump of goo! Love the idea but not practical for a make ahead desert.

I had the same problem with the cotton candy tufts on top! I was making these for a bake sale for my daughter and was really dissapointed by this.

I tried making the cotton candy frosting, but it had a bad aftertaste. What could I have done wrong? The frosting base was a bit old (3-4 weeks).

I tried this today. I put the cotton candy into a french vanilla cake mix. The color was a little pale and maybe greenish so I added some blue food coloring. I also added confetti sprinkles. They turned out great.

Thinking about it now, you might want to add two packets. It would have better color and a stronger flavor. My daughter says she can't really taste the cotton candy flavor.

I did with the angel food cake mix. The cotton candy packet was perfect for the box cake mix. Turned out great.

I put the Chocolate Almond creation mix into a yellow cake batter tonight, and it turned out AMAZING!!! I made my own cupcake filling with a little bit of a chocolate pudding cup and some Saunder's chocolate sauce, and topped off my cupcakes with a homemade buttercream frosting that I mixed in the Mint creations packet... They barely had a chance to cool before the boys in my house devoured them!! I can't wait to try other mixes into my cakes!!!

I tried the white cake with the mocha, I used only one packet and it turned out pale in color and not enough taste to really know what it was, I think two packets would do a much better job.

Maybe I'm going overboard with the sweet tooth, but my first thought was a chocolate or marshmallow fluff filling. I've never been to fond of cutting out pieces of cake, time consuming, but if you take a zip bag, cut a corner, put in any basic icing tip, and fill the bag, you can just press and go. It's much quicker. GL!

What I do, is I only put about a tablespoon worth of batter into my cupcake wrappers, and kind of swish it around until the entire bottom is covered. And then I put a dollop of whatever filling that I want directly in the middle and cover it with the remaining batter. The only thing is that you have to make sure that the filling does NOT touch the sides of the wrapper, or it will bake up the side and it won't be a filling anymore.
