Easy and delicious
- 1/2 cup; shortening, butter or margarine
- 2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1tsp. almond extract
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- Topping: 6 oz. chocolate chips and 2 tbsp. shortening
- Cream margarine and sugar till smooth.
- Add eggs and extracts.
- Add flour and baking powder, then fold in walnuts.
- Bake in 9"x13" greased pan for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
- When cool, melt 6 oz. chocolate chips and 2 tbsp. shortening together and frost brownies. When chocolate hardens, cut into squares.

These go by the name of Blondies in my house - we love them! I usually add the chips (usually butterscotch or white chocolate) to the batter, but this is a great way to make these, too.
