Ingredients Baking Instructions
  • 1 box Duncan Hines® Chewy Fudge Premium Brownie Mix
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips or chunks
  • 3/4 teaspoon chili powder or chipotle chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon orange juice concentrate

Optional garnish:

  • 1 cup chopped nuts, any variety, sprinkled on top of cookies before baking
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray cookie sheets with nonstick cooking-spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl combine brownie mix, oil, and eggs with wooden spoon until just blended, add chili powder, red pepper and orange juice stir until moistened; stir in chocolate chips.
  3. Drop dough by heaping tablespoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto cookie sheets. Sprinkled with nuts, if desired.
  4. Bake 11-14 minutes until cracked in appearance and just barely set at center when lightly touched. Cool 1 minute on sheets. Transfer to wire racks with metal spatula and cool completely.
  5. Garnish with pecans or other nuts and chocolate chips, if desired.

These cookies are surprisingly yummy! I was a little afraid at first to put in all of the chili powder and ground red pepper but the heat mellows in baking and really rounds out the flavor of the brownie cookie. Don't be afraid to give these a try.

Divine! I used fresh squeezed orange juice and then grated orange rind instead of the orange juice concentrate. I only had chipotle chili powder and it was fabulous. If your taste buds are needing a wake up these days.... try these cookies!

5 stars for this one! I've been looking for a recipe that would replicate the chili chocolate my husband brought home from a business trip to Europe. This cookie's taste is VERY VERY close.
How often can you say you don't just TASTE the cookie....you EXPERIENCE the cookie? This recipe fits that in every way...I agree with the previous reviewer...don't let the spices scare you....they give this cookie the perfect depth of flavor...after the second bite, you feel the slight warmth in the back of your throat....and it makes you smile..... :)

Five thumbs up! Delicious...mixes up so quickly. Don't be scared by the spices - level of "kick" just right even for people with sensitive taste buds. My family has asked me to dial it up a notch in the next batch - we love our heat. Thanks for a great recipe! This one's a keeper!
