Spicy cinnamon harmonizes with the mellow flavor of Duncan Hines French Vanilla Cake Mix. Choose your favorite nut––almonds or pecans––and you've got a big hit with these little Cinnamon Crinkles.
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp water
- 3/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pkg Duncan Hines® Moist Deluxe® French Vanilla Cake Mix
- 48 whole pecans or walnuts
- Preheat oven to 375 °F. Combine sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Set aside. Combine egg whites and water in another small bowl; beat lightly with fork. Set aside.
- Combine butter, egg yolks and vanilla extract in large bowl. Blend in cake mix gradually. Beat at low speed with electric mixer until blended. Roll 1 rounded teaspoon of dough into ball. Dip half the ball into egg white mixture then into cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place ball sugar side up on ungreased baking sheet. Press nut on top. Repeat with remaining dough, placing balls 2-inches apart.
- Bake at 375 °F for 9 to 12 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheets. Remove to cooling racks. Store in airtight container.

Would much rather make snickerdoodles, very sticky dough and did not like the flavor

This was a great recipe. I used it with my after-school students and they turned out great. No problem with stickiness and very easy for the kids to work with. We didn't use nuts due to some allergy issues but we used three white chocolate chips in the center. Very good.

These are a stroke of genius. First glance thought they were hollow in the center. They remind me of snickerdoodles, too only the crinkly is different and prettier. If they are too sticky, I'll figure out something.

My big problem is there is no servng size, calories, carbs listed. I need nutritional info as I am diabetic. None of the reciepes have it!

that's exactly what I was looking for. Why isn't any of that listed at the bottom of the recipe when you go to print it? You can always have the option to hide the info before you print like your competitor does on their website.

My husband loved these. He said they were like a snicker doodle, only more buttery. I think he was tasting the french vanilla. I had no problem with the dough. Definitely not sticky (not sure how it could be when the only liquid in the dough is two egg yolks).

These are delicious, but I found dough very very sticky to work with. A lot of work, so Im not sure I will make these again!

i wanted to know, when you place the dough balls on the ungreased baking sheet, will it spread/flatten on it's own? or do we have to do it before it bakes?
Comment by: pumkin72 (1 discussion) on Oct 3, 2010 at 10:27 PM
Yes, they can flatten on their own. Although, if you use the pecans, that will also flatten it. (I made one pan with pecans and the other without.)

Our ladies group made these last night!! They were so light and buttery you could almost snack them up like potatoe chips. I will definetly add these to my holiday giving collection.
