I never saw the caramel cake mix in the usual places, but we have a small chain of Mexican food stores here and they carry every cake mix thats made I think--they even have a butter pecan, strawberry--any kind you want, but I would try some of the small stores

Does anyone know where to purchase the Hines Carmel cake mix? We have, Safeway, Albertson's, Wal-Mart, Winco & Fred Meyer's (Kroger) stores. Thanks!

I also made these, however I used heath toffee instead of chocolate chips and it was sooooo good! Everyone loved them!

I made this to take over to my mom and dads and they just loved it. They were hesitant at first because they were unsure of a carmel cake mix .But they were pleasantly surprised with the taste.

My mother made these first for our family in the Fall. She added chocolate icing on the bars and they were scrumptious! We can find the carmel cake mix only at one store in her small home town and cannot find it in our larger city.

These are delicious! Per previous reviewer I added two additional TBSP of butter and baked exactly 25 minutes. Very moist and very sweet - cut into small bars.

I baked these bars exactly as the recipe stated, except I added a small box of french vanilla instant pudding to the mix. I think that this helps retain moisture as well as give a little extra flavor. My family loved these bars, as well as my husbands co-workers. This recipe is definately a keeper!!

I baked these exactly as listed. The flavor was good but the cake was dry. They looked exactly as the picture, which shows the cake mix more like a cookie. It needed more moisture but I'm not sure how to accomplish this.

I used real butter and increased it to a quarter cup + 2 TBSP. Baked in hot oven for exactly 25 min. Moist and yummy. Worried about the extra calories? You're eating cookies, relax and enjoy quality, NOT quantity. That's my weight watchers life time status talking!

This recipe was on the side of the caramel cake mix box 20 years ago when I was a teen baking. My friends and I LOVED to make these!!!!! The icing wasn't included then, so they are perfect without it. So glad to see this recipe!!!! THEY ARE SOOOO TASTY!!! YUM! :))
