Son's wii hit by lightening, so I'm sharing a family recipe that was never to be shared.
Amazing! Passed down for three generations! using Duncan Hines yellow cake mix.
Receiving many compliments on shower, birthday, charity events, and wedding cakes.
Photo submitted also used Duncan Hines red velvet cake mix.
CAKE RECIPE:
- 2- 8" round Wilton cake pan
- 1 can butter flavor cooking spray
- 1 box Duncan Classic Yellow Cake Mix
You Will Need:
- 1 1/3 Cups Water
- 1 stick butter ***use butter instead of 1/3c. oil on box recipe**
- 3 Large Eggs
ICING RECIPE:
- 1- 2lb. bag 10x congectioners sugar
- 1-stick Butter Flavored Crisco Shortening
- 4-10tbsp. water (depending on desired consistency may need more adding 1tbsp at a time.
- 2tbsp. pure vanilla extract
- 3/4tsp. of salt
CAKE MIX DIRECTIONS:
- 2 8": 37-45 minutes Until toohpick comes out clean.
- Prep: PREHEAT oven to 335°F.
- COAT pans heavely with BUTTER FLAVOR COOKING SPRAY
- Mix: BLEND dry mix, water, butter and eggs in large bowl at low speed until moistened
- BEAT at medium speed for 2 minutes
- POUR batter in pans and bake immediately.
- Bake: 37-45 minutes
- Cake is done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. COOL in pan on wire rack for 15 minutes. Use large Knife to cut cakes down to even level. Cool completely before frosting.
ICING DIRECTIONS:Mix: BLEND:
- butter flavored Crisco stick, water, vanilla, salt until smooth
- Add 10x confectioners sugar slowly until all ingredients are blended well. Add less or more water 1tbsp at a time for desired consistency.
- Decoreate as desired!
- *Variation: Add 1/2cup chopped pecans to center layer of cake. MY FAVORITE WAY!!!
- To do this mix pecans with 3/4cup of icing and spread between the two layers.
