Just like the confection, this light and airy dessert combines the fluffy texture of angel food cake with the sweet flavor of cotton candy in the frosting. The cake is tinted pink to recreate the classic cotton candy color combination of pink and blue.
- 1 pkg. Duncan Hines® Angel Food Cake Mix
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 8 drops red food coloring
- 1 packet of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Cotton Candy Flavor Mix and 1 can of Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter
- Preheat oven to 350°F. For best results, be sure bowl and utensils are clean.
- Blend cake mix, water, and red food coloring in large bowl at low speed until moistened (about 30 seconds). Beat at medium speed for 1 minute. Do not overbeat. Pour into ungreased 10-inch tube pan and bake immediately.
- Bake for 38 to 48 minutes. Check. Cake is done when top is golden brown and cracked, looks very dry and is warm to the touch. Do not overbake.
- Hang pan upside down on heat-proof glass bottle until completely cool, about 1 1/2 hours. Loosen edges carefully and turn it out of pan.
- Pour pack of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Cotton Candy Flavor Mix into can of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter. Stir until evenly blended.
- Melt the Cotton Candy frosting you just created in the microwave in 5-second bursts until just melted enough to pour as a thick glaze.
- Pour over top of cake. Let frosting set for up to 10 minutes and serve.
