Honey Bun Cake

A sweet, moist, sticky cake that is much like a Honey Bun sweet roll. Almost a shame to save it for dessert.....

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. Duncan Hines Classic Yellow cake mix
  • 2/3 cup cooking oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 6 tbsp. milk

Baking Instructions

  1. Mix the first 7 ingredients together in a large mixing bowl with electric mixer on medium until well blended and batter is smooth.
  2. Grease 9x13-inch pan with nonstick cooking spray or shortening.
  3. Pour cake batter into pan.
  4. Bake at 325 degrees for 40-45 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  5. Meanwhile, mix the last 3 ingredients together in a medium mixing bowl.
  6. When cake is done, remove from oven and pour the mixture on top of hot cake.
  7. Serve warm.

Egg Allergy - Flax seed meal eggs

My son is allergic to eggs and we have found that flax seed meal can be used as a substitute. One egg equals 1 tablespoon flax meal plus 3 tablespoons water. It is best to grind the flax seed right before you plan to use it. Mix the flax seed meal with the water and then refrigerate for 15 minutes to let it set. Then use in the recipe. You can use the ratio to make as many "flax eggs" as you will need.
