Two layers of Dark chocolate moist fudge cake, covered with cool mint chocolate flavor frosting!
- 2 packets of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Mint Chocolate Flavor Mix and 2 cans of Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter
- 2 pkg Duncan Hines dark chocolate fudge premium cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/3 cups water
- Mint Leaf for garnish
- 1/2 cup shaved Ghirardelli chocolate or any chocolate of your choice
- 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease two 8.5 x 2.5 round spring form cake pans.
- 2. Prepare cake batter as directed on package.
- 3.Pour 2 individual pkgs of Duncan Hines dark chocolate fudge premium cake mix batter into 2 separate prepared cake pans and bake 28 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- 4.Let cakes cool completely and remove from pans.
- 5.Pour 1 packet of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Mint Chocolate Flavor Mix into 1 can of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter. Stir until evenly blended.
- 6.Repeat with second can of frosting and packet.
- 7.Place first cake layer on a plate, and chisel the top to make a flat top.
- 8.Lightly frost top of the cake layer with the Mint Chocolate Flavor frosting you created.
- 9.Place second cake layer on top of the first layer.
- 10.Chisel the top of the second cake layer to make a even flat top.
- 11. Lightly crumb coat the sides and top of stacked cake and chill for 15 minutes or until the frosting is set.
- 12.After the crumb coat is set, generously frost the whole cake with Mint Chocolate Flavor frosting with a frosting spatula.
- 13. Decorate the sides of the cake with the shaved chocolate
- 14. Use a larger open star piping tip and pipe the bottom outer border of the cake with Mint Chocolate Flavor Frosting.
- 15. Use a smaller open star piping tip and decorate the top border of the cake with Mint Chocolate Flavor Frosting.
- 16. Garnish the top of the cake with a Mint leaf
- 17. Place in the refrigerator for the frosting to set
- 18. Enjoy!
Tip:
- To achieve a smooth layer of frosting on the top of your cake, run your frosting knife under hot water. Wipe it dry and smooth frosting with the hot knife.
