This tree stump is multi-functional. I can make it with any frosting flavor like the bubble gum flavor for a fairy tree stump or the cherry vanilla for a baby shower. There are so many uses! The picture submitted is an Easter tree stump.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Mint Chocolate Flavor Mix and 1 can of Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter
  • 1 packet of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Chocolate Marshmallow Flavor Mix and 1 can of Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter
  • 1 box Duncan Hines Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 1 1/3 Cups Water
  • 1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 3 Large Eggs

Baking Instructions

  1. Pour pack of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Mint Chocolate Flavor Mix into can of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter. Stir until evenly blended.
  2. Pour pack of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Chocolate Marshmallow Flavor Mix into can of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter. Stir until evenly blended.
  3. Bake cake according to directions on box in a round pan.
  4. spreak the Mint Chocolate Frosting between each layer of cake. Use the Chocolate Marshmallow Frosting to Frost the outside of the cake. Frost in sweeping motions to make it look like bark. This time you don't want a smooth finish of frosting. You want to make it look like a tree.
  5. Use decorations like gum paste flowers to decorate the tree to your liking.

Lowfat BlackForest Cake

Lowfat BlackForest Cake

I use devils food cake mix, 12 ounces carbonated water (club soda, seltzer water or sparkling water), whisk the ingredients together until smooth. Choice of pan is optional but please know this cake doesn't rise much so if you want a higher cake, use an 8x8 sq or 1 8" or 9" round pan. Bake according to package. Mix 1ctr of thawed fat free cool whip with 1 bx of instant chocolate pudding mix until combined. Spread on cooled cake then top with canned cherry pie filling.

my mom had this info back in the 70's from a decorating class she took. Back then she would use strips of towels that would fit around the outside of the cake pan. Wet it with cool water and wring it out . . . pin it in place around the outer edge of pan and bake. The reason for the "hump" is that the out edge bakes first and has time to settle leaving the inner "hump". No need to cut off the excess. Wilton makes these insulated strips that I have inherited from mom. Works every time!!!!!
