Everybody loves cake; especially when there are surprises under the frosting. Show your pride by showcasing your team colors. Even fans of the opposing team won’t be able to resist this tasty treat. Please check us out at party4pennies.com for more great recipes

Ingredients

  • 2 Boxes Classic Duncan Hines White Cake
  • 6 Egg Whites
  • 2 2/3 Cup Water
  • 4 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 4 Cans Whipped Duncan Hines Vanilla Frosting
  • Food coloring (preferably powder or gel, but liquid will work)
  • Cooking Spray

Baking Instructions

  1. 1) Mix both cake mixes according to directions on boxes. Separate your cake mixes equally into separate bowls. Number of bowls depends on number of colors you choose to use in your cake.
  2. 2) Add food coloring and fold in gently. Keep adding color to achieve desired hue.
  3. 3) Spray your cake pans with cooking spray.
  4. 4) Equally divide your batter between your pans.
  5. 5) Bake according to directions on box.
  6. 6) Remove from oven and let cool.
  7. 7) (optional) Wrap cakes in plastic wrap and freeze for at least 4 hours. It makes frosting these thinner cake layers easier.
  8. 8) Place first cake layer on plate and frost. Repeat with all layers and finish by frosting the sides and entire cake.
  9. *We realize not everyone has 4-8 cake pans in their kitchen. We recommend mixing one box of cake mix at a time with food coloring, baking, cooling and repeating

Leftover Frosting

Store leftover chocolate butter cream frosting, covered, in refrigerator. Spread frosting between graham crackers for a quick snack.

Removal from silicone bakeware

Removal from silicone bakeware is easy if you do this before baking. Spray pan with a non stick spray then put a C of white or brown sugar in the pan evenly coat pan with sugar. Put mix in then pan bake as directed. Then let cooked cake or bread cool in oven for 15 min in the pan, Before removing from the pan make sure the cake is very cool turn over and an out it come.
