Ingredients Baking Instructions
  • 1 pkg. (2-layer size) Duncan Hines yellow cake mix
  • 1 pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla or French Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/3 cup oil (* note I used applesauce)
  • 3 Granny Smith apples (1 lb.), peeled, coarsely chopped
  • ( *note I used marzette tub carmel about 1/2 cup heated in the microwave)
  • Bake 350
  1. GREASE and flour 12-cup fluted tube pan or 10-inch tube pan. Beat first 5 ingredients in large bowl with mixer on low speed until blended. Beat on high speed 2 min. Stir in apples. Pour into prepared pan.
  2. BAKE 50 min. to 1 hour or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool cake in pan 15 min. Loosen cake from side of pan; invert onto wire rack. Gently remove pan. Cool cake completely. Transfer to plate.
  3. MICROWAVE caramel in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1-1/2 min., stirring every 30 sec. until blended. Cool 10 min. or until slightly thickened. Drizzle over
  4. *Note I used marzette's tub carmel instead of the cubes about a 1/2 cup

I used the Caramel Cake Mix and Gala apples; I also added some chopped pecans. I drizzled the Caramel Icing over it. I took it to a dinner at church and everyone loved it. Rich, but delicious.

I usually like to make everything from scratch. I haven't seen this flavor before and ooooh so wanted to try it. Instead of making one big bunt, I made 7 tiny indivual bunts for everyone. I also added my own fuji apples and more carmel to taste. I loved the Carmel Apple Cake. What a Hit! When It was baking, I couldn't keep my parents away to let the cake cool.. They wanted to eat it right out of the pan!!! When it cooled.. I layered more carmel on after that....
