Serve these QUICK & EASY Chocolate Lava Cupcakes hot to enchance the hot dark chocolate syrup center which is a perfect compilment to the rich chocolate flavor of Duncan Hines Chocolate Cake Mix. An optional scoop of vanilla ice cream is a wondedrful delight.

  • Servings: Depends on size of cupake pan.

Ingredients

  • Cupcake paper holders/liners
  • Duncan Hines Dark Rich Chocolate Cake Mix
  • Dark Chocolate Syrup
  • Option: Vanilla Ice Cream

Baking Instructions

  1. Line the cupcake pan with cupcake paper holders/liners.
  2. Fill the lower third of the cupcake holder with dark chocolate syrup.
  3. Fill the upper two-thirds of the cupcake holder with Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate Cake Mix.
  4. Cook in oven following the Duncan Hines Chocolate Cake box directions.

After you pour the batter in the pan drop the pan on the counter and spin that removes the air bubbles.

Moist cake tip

My cake decorating instructor told us (16 years ago) to add 1 tablespoon of mayonaise (not salad dressing) to any cake mix (except pudding cakes) and it makes the cake moister since mayo is pretty much eggs and oil. I've been doing this ever since and cakes are great!
