- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 (20 oz) can pineapple slices
- Maraschino cherries
- 1 pkg Duncan Hines® Moist Deluxe® Pineapple Supreme Cake Mix

I think I missed something. Why is "Double" in the recipe title?
Comment by: audrey.finger (no discussions) on Apr 12, 2012 at 10:42 AM
The cake mix is already seasoned with pineapple.

I really don't want to turn the cake over on a huge serving platter or a baking sheet. UGLY. So I have split the cake into two round pans. This way it is easier for storing, carting somewhere or even handling.

Exactly. It is the only way to get a consistent result.

I just made this and it came out beautiful! I wish I had one more can up pinapple though, 8 slices was not enough but it does not look incomplete. I like things crammed :) It was done in 45 minute I think 50 minutes it would have been a bit overdone.

Actually, I make this now with pineapple chunks, NOT slices, and cherries. It's so easy to eat! And still delicious....

I am concerned since I substituted pineapple juice instead of the water and read afterwards not to! Well, it's in the oven as we speak. What is the concern? I know not to add it to Jello, but if you have the answer - tell me! TY

I do this also and it works just fine. Regarding Jello, you can add canned pineapple. It is fresh pineapple that you cannot put into Jello. I have no idea what the difference is other than the canned version is heated to pasturize the product.

I agree the old recipe was awesome

The old recipe is on here and is simply called Upside Down Pineapple Cake.

Oops. I meant to write "Pineapple Upside Down Cake". Sorry about that.

Hmm, 110 comments so far and roughly 100 are complaints about removing the recipe from the box. Are you listening to your customers DH? Having the recipe boosts sales.

I agree. I do not understand why DH took this recipe off of the box. It was extremely convenient...now, in the few minutes I have to put this desert together, I have to search for the recipe on-line.

Quality has gone down since Procter & Gamble sold the Duncan Hines division of their food product line.

Tried this recipe today because when I went to make it, realized as the rest of you, that there was no recipe for it and came here. I followed it almost exactly, but again, like many of you, part of the water I replaced with the pineapple juice. And baked it at exactly 32 minutes. Came out great!

As a first-time baker, i made a cardinal mistake. I baked the cake just using the recipe on the box without coming to the website first. When I was ready to what I thought was just to frost the cake with a pineapple mixed frosting, i then decided to visit Food network, and then this site to findout that I was supposed to put the fruit mixture on the bottom of the pan before baking. HELP!!!!!

Is there a reason why we should not use the juice from can of pineapple, I always do and it comes out perfectly every time. I love this recipe, but have to look it up when Iwant tomake one. By the way, will be making oone at the end of the month. Delicious

Create a file folder on your hard drive (I call mine "Recipes") and save the recipe there for future reference. Just an idea.

Please put this on the box! I do not cook and this was to be made for my husbands birthday. He said, well if it doesn't say it on the box they must have included it. Nope. Just Pineapple Supreme cake mix ONLY. Bummer. Now I have to go back to the store.

Has anyone tried using a tube pan instead of a 13' x 9' pan????

Yes, you just have to be sure the interior is well sprayed.

My 87 yr old mother in law, who barely scrapes by, had to call me long distance so I could look up the directions for this recipe for her. Put them back on the box. Not everyone has a computer and many people (including my whole family) love this recipe. Don't disappoint your fans like this.

I agree- I was accustomed to just looking on the box for the recipe and I used the pineapple juice and it was delicious-PUT THE RECIPE BACK ON THE BOX

Oh - I just realized that I didn't use the Pineapple cake mix, I used regular Duncan Hines Yellow Cake mix. Hmmmm, maybe that's why the recipe says not to use the pineapple juice. If you use the Pineapple Cake mix it's, like, too much pineapple??
Comment by: dasunbaby (no discussions) on Feb 18, 2012 at 06:04 PM
I use the pineapple cake mix and the pineapple juice. I also use crushed pineapple to place between the rings. My family LOVES pineapple!
Comment by: StarTrek1701 (no discussions) on May 1, 2012 at 04:28 PM
Exactly, except I use the chunks.
