I did this cake for thanksgiving and my family loved it :) i did the icing with coolwhip & creamcheese and it was great. But it was a little dry to me. Does any one know what causes the cake to be dry? I always do boxed cakes and they are always moist, its the first time i did one like this with extra ingredients. What did I do wrong?

Hello, can you use the classic yellow moist deluxe cake mix in place of moist deluxe golden butter cake mix for butter pecan banana cake.

If you substitute the pecans for walnuts do u have to cook the walnuts in a skillet with butter the same as you would the pecans.

I probably would - we don't care for walnuts so much at our house - we all prefer pecans - so I usually always substitute pecans for walnuts :)

I would start with a tsp of rum, then taste the batter a little. add more if needed. What I am doing right now, is following this recipe, but instead of pecans, I am folding in blueberries.... then drizzle with the vanilla glaze.... omg, so yummy smelling right now.

When using these recipes, can you use milk in place of water?

making it again, this time with dark chocolate fudge cake mix. This recipe is almost fail-proof. I love how moist and flavorful it is. I leave out the sugar too and have used applesauce for the oil too.

This one of the best cakes. I use it when I need a quick and impressive cake. I make it in layers and frost with homemade cream cheese icing!

This cake was awesome everyone at home loved it. I did two boxes of cake so used twice the amount on all ingredients and instead of using pecans I used almonds since that is what I had on hand. I also used cream cheese frosting and it came out great. I baked it in a square pan and had no problem.
