It does not say to follow directions on package. Follow the recipe as written above. Not hard.

I tried this recipe and I must say it was scrumptious and so very easy to make. Everyone in my family fell in love with it. I got asked the other day to make another one so here goes, oh yea and by the way I don't like applesauce but with cake and cinnamon I will tolerate it.

The cake mix recipe on the side of the box is missing for the bunt cake which is my husbands favorite, its moist and heavy. Its a good thing I cut and saved it as the lemon and chocolate are a little different. I hate when a product says new and improved, it is usually not as good.

A few years ago you had Bunt Cake Mixes. One was chocolate with a coconut filling that you dropped into the top of the cake. When it was done the filling was in the center of the cake. I was wondering if Duncan Hines still has that cake mix and if not do you have the recipe for the coconut filling.

I wonder how this cake would taste if you substitue the applesauce with pumkin and add a half a teaspoon of pumkin spice . Wow, just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I"m going to try it and let you all know! Also spinkle a little cinnamon and spice over the confectioner' sugar. Maybe you wouldlike to try it too! Love GG88

Hey fellows bakers, you have to try this cake! It's so incredibly moist and amazingly tasteful. I also added some dried cranberries (optional). In addition, since I didn't have any confectioner sugar, I made the topping with: 1/4 cup of buter,1/4 cup of light brown sugar, and added teaspoon of Rum extract for an extra kick, (optional). Melt over medium high heat and pour over warm cake. Lastly, I sprinkle some cinnamon sugar over the toppong. Careful this may become one of your favorite cakes! It's absolutely delicious!! Try it and let me know. GG88

In case there any doubt, my reply is was in reference to the pumkin walnut cake made with the Golden Butter. I decided to substitute the applesauce for pumkin. What a delicious idea! You have to try it!

This is an easy cake to make. Though I didn't have applesauce, I used apple butter in the same portion as the recipe called for with the applesauce. The texture was a little firmer, but if you want a cake full of "autumny" spices and flavors, try it with the apple butter!

I used Black Walnuts instead of English Walnuts. The cake reminded me of the cake my grandmother used to make.

I substituted classic yellow cake mix instead of butter recipe mix. I still added the same amount of butter, apple sauce, and eggs the recipe called for. I added extra finely chopped walnuts. This recipe was delicious. The cake is light, moist, and fluffy. Baking time was just over 40 minutes.- Careful not to over bake. At most this cake could handle a light glaze, but frosting would be too heavy. The powder sugar and cinnamon dusting was pretty.

This is a GREAT recipe, it has the taste of on old fashioned spice cake my grandmother would bake when we were kids. It is light and wonderful. No need for frosting, just sprinkle powdered sugar when cooled.
Easy to make, Great to share.
