Fluffy strawberry cream envelops rich squares of Duncan Hines Angel Food Cake in this refrigerated dessert. Angel Strawberry Bavarian Cake is lovely and refreshing.
- 1 pkg Duncan Hines® Angel Food Cake Mix
- 1 (10 oz) pkg frozen sweetened sliced strawberries, thawed
- 1 (3 oz) pkg strawberry gelatin
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 (8 oz) containers non-dairy whipped topping
- 4 fresh strawberries
- mint leaves
- Preheat oven to 375 ºF. Prepare, bake and cool cake as directed on package. Cut cake into 1-inch cubes.
- Drain thawed strawberries, reserving juice. Combine gelatin and boiling water in small bowl. Stir until gelatin is dissolved. Add enough water to strawberry juice to measure 1 cup; stir into gelatin. Refrigerate until gelatin is slightly thickened. Beat gelatin until foamy.
- Fold together 1 container whipped topping, gelatin and strawberries.
- Alternate layers of cake cubes and strawberry mixture into 10-inch tube pan. Press lightly. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours. Unmold cake onto serving plate. Frost sides and top of cake with remaining whipped topping. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Garnish with fresh strawberries and mint leaves.

This is really good! My mom loooves it. The only problem I had with it is that I made it with a bundt pan, and when I finally managed to ease it out, there were some chunks still in the pan. I clawed out the rest of the cake, stuck it on, added whipped cream, topped with strawberry slices, and it looked great and tasted even better ^^

This looks so good, but I have a question. They talk about "cake cubes", so, after baking the cake and allowing it to cool. Do you then cut the cake into cubes? Layering "cake cubes" and strawberry mixture? This is what I gather from it.

A tube pan is basically a bunt cake pan

Slightly thickened. Says that's when you beat it. After you have beaten air into it is when you fold in the whipped topping and strawberries. Then put it back in the fridge and let it set until you're ready to serve and add the remainder of the whipped topping.
I've worked a lot with gelatin mixtures.

I have made this cake for years. I layer a truffle dish with angle food cake, strawberry jello mixture, fresh strawberries and whip cream. (3 layers each) ending with whip cream and fresh whole strawberries on top with chocolate shavings. It is breath taking when truffle dish is placed on glass tray topped with babies breath, leather leaf or greens and whole strawberries. The contrasting layers of red and white are beautiful. I usually double receipt for my truffle dish. You can always add fresh blueberries in the layers.

My family loves this cake. I mix it all together and like it even better than layering it. You can also make it low calorie by using light cool whip and light strawberries and sugar free jello. Taste just as good. Delicious

My daughter is not fond of Cake with Frosting, but she loves fresh fruit. This was the perfect solution! Scrumptious! And diet conscious, too!
