This recipe gives a little twist to traditional brownies. You can justify eating these because there's oatmeal in them, and that's healthy, right?
- 1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 1 box Duncan Hines Chewy Fudge Family Style Brownies
- Combine the first seven ingredients in a bowl. Mix well.
- Set aside 1 cup of mixture for topping. Pat remaining ingredients into a greased 10'x15' pan.
- Make brownie batter as directions call for. Spread in pan.
- Sprinkle with remaining 1 cup of oatmeal mixture. Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
- If the brownies look a little gooey, use the toothpick method to make sure it comes out clean before you remove the brownies from the oven.

I love that these brownies have oatmeal and nuts in them--that makes them a tiny bit healthier than regular brownies, but just as yummy!
