this is like a older receipe I have had for over 20 years the step they missed was bake crownies for 10 mintues while making filling and then proceed. It's the best cream cheese brownies ever!

I have made a similar recipe, but instead of swirling the cream cheese mixture on the top, you put in some of the mixed cake, add a dollop of cheese cream mixture, then more of the cake mixture. I am going to try making these using the DH cake mixture, bet it will be yummy!

I'm an avid baker but this recipe confused me.I'll play around with it and get it right.Don't blame Duncan Hines.they probably thought she sent the right directions.I've used their products for a very long time and never had a problem.

It is clear that there are errors in the writing of this recipe but I feel that it is clear enough to give the essence of what to do. I think this is worthy of a try as long as the baker uses common sense when following it.

I mix the brownie mix with 1 egg,1 stick butter melted and 1 cup chopped pecans together and pat in a 9 x 13 pan sprayed with non-stick spray.Mix 8 oz cream cheese,3 eggs,1 16oz powder sugar together until smooth.Pour over brownie mixture and bake at 300 for 1 hour.Cool 1 hour before cutting.

I read the recipe before reading the comments. I thought "this is really dumb"! It does not make sense. Fortunatey even an amature cook would know it was incorrect so the brownies would turn out ok.

Don't be too embarrassed, everyone makes bad choices sometimes. If you love chocolate and cheesecake like I do, try an Earthquake cake, a wonderful cross between German chocolate cake and cheesecake! Now I'm going to go home and make Earthquake cupcakes!

A recipe that has pointless instructions is worth nothing ... it can never be used. Too bad because it sounded so good.

I have to agree. Someone failed to proofread. Any baker can tell this recipe as presented is a no go.

If the filling is to be swirled into the brownie mixture before baking, I don't think the instructions are correct when it says to prepare the filling while the brownies are baking!

I agree. I have never tried this recipe but I'm going to put the filling on the top before baking. This sounds like a good recipe for me to try for a couple of church functions that I cook for.
