An all American favorite, to the extreme: a milk-chocolate brownie layer loaded with chocolate chips, covered with fluffy peanut butter, then topped off with a final layer of chocolate.
- 1 box Duncan Hines Chewy Fudge Premium Brownie Mix
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 2-4 tablespoons cream
- 1 tub Duncan Hines® Creamy Home-Style Milk Chocolate Frosting
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9 inch baking pan; set aside.
- Prepare brownie mix as described on box using eggs, water and oil. Fold in 1 cup of milk chocolate chips. Spread evenly into prepared pan.
- Bake in center of oven for 25 to 28 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out almost clean. Place on wire rack.
- Add peanut butter and butter in a mixing bowl and mix thoroughly until combined and smooth. Note: You will get a much taller filling if you whip this with an electric mixture to incorporate lots of air.
- Slowly add powdered sugar, mixture will be a bit crumbly.
- Blend in cream until mixture is fluffy and reaches desired spreading consistency.
- Spread evenly over warm brownie.
- Melt Duncan Hines Milk Chocolate Frosting for 30 seconds in the microwave. Stir and put back in for another 10 – 15 second. Pour over peanut butter spread on the brownies. Use a knife to spread the chocolate evenly.
- Put in refrigerator for an hour to set.
- Take out and let the brownie sit in room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving.

I will try these but I will probably omit chocolate chips....I have made pb brownies before and they tend to be very rich

Instead of using frosting, I topped with homemade dark chocolate ganache and these turned out perfectly. While the ganache was still liquid, I dusted with crushed peanuts. I made these to bring to a workplace function and they were gone in about 5 minutes. Awesome.

Yes, I softened the peanut butter in the microwave a bit and then made peanut butter stripes. I ran a knife through it up one side, perpendicular to the stripes, and down the other to give it a marbled look. Simple, elegant and delicious.

The recipe for extreme fudgy peanut butter brownies calls for cream. What kind of cream are they talking about?

Did you receive an answer for what kind of cream?

"What cream are they talking about?", Would be heavy whipping cream, like what you would use to make whipped cream. You add it by tablespoon at a time until you reach the creaminess you want/prefer.

These were really tasty. However for someone that no longer eats a lot of sweets, they were almost too sweet.

Try using some cold leftover coffee (reg or decaf) instead of water. The brownies come out less sweet and it brings out the chocolate flavor!
