Storing Cookies

You can store cookies in an airtight container for a maximum of three to four months. Store your crisp cookies in a container separate from your soft cookies because they need different environments to stay fresh. You should store your crisp cookies between sheets of waxed paper in a loosely covered container. Whereas, soft cookies should be stored in an airtight container so they stay moist and chewy.

Brownie Tips

Hand-Mixing Brownies
We always recommend hand-mixing your brownies. Never use an electric mixer.

Uniform Baking

Spread your batter evenly for uniform baking, thickness and texture.

Even-Textured Brownies
To ensure your brownies have an even texture, use the pan size called for in the recipe. Using a different sized pan can give the brownies a different texture.

Moist, Chewy Brownies
Over-baking can cause your brownies to become dry. Follow the recommended baking time listed in the recipe to keep your brownies moist and chewy.

Cutting Even Squares
To cut brownies into even squares or rectangles, use a ruler to measure and insert toothpicks to mark your lines.

Simple Brownie Garnish
Try sprinkling your unfrosted brownie bars with powdered sugar. Or top frosted bars with chocolate curls, nuts, miniature chocolate chips, dried fruit or candied fruit––whatever your heart desires.

Reduce Clean-Up Time
Cut down on baking pan clean-up. Try lining your brownie pan with aluminum foil. Your cooled brownies will lift right out and be easy to cut into uniform squares.

No-Crumble Brownies
To prevent crumbling, cool your brownies completely before you cut them into squares, unless the recipe states otherwise. Use a plastic knife or table knife for smooth-sided bars.

Smooth-Sided Brownies
For smooth-sided bars, thoroughly cool your brownies before you cut with a plastic knife or table knife.

Double Decadent Brownies
You can have double decadent brownies. Simply combine 1/3 of a cup of coarsely chopped white chocolate and 2 teaspoons of vegetable shortening in a small, heavy saucepan. Melt over low heat, stirring constantly. Drizzle over your brownies.

Oven Thermometers
Check oven temperature with a reliable oven thermometer to be sure it is accurate. Adjust temperature if necessary.

Double Fudge Brownie Bars
For a delicious flavor variation, substitute butterscotch-flavored chips for the peanut butter chips.

Frosting Brownies
You can frost brownies with your favorite flavor of Duncan Hines® ready-to-serve frosting for a special treat.
