I buy many boxes of cake or brownie mix when on sale so I write the Expire or Use By date on a 1x1" white sticker and put it on the side of the box so I can easily see which to use first.

I also date my mixes by writing the expiration date on the top of the box. That's the side I see first, but you could write it anyplace at an easy glance.
